Why should I focus on small businesses?

According to recent statics there are nearly 28 million small businesses in the US and 8.1 million that have <100 employees. 70% of small businesses are owned and operated by a single person and most importantly nearly 45% of services purchased by small businesses with less than 100 employees goes for consulting services! That means that there are over 3.6 million small businesses in the US that need some form of consulting services.

Let's look at the key player in getting business, the small business owner. The chances are very good that you already know some small business owners in your area. Do you have a small auto repair shop that you take your car to when you need a tune-up? Do you know the owner? Do you have friends that own their own business? The chances are good that you do.
